Two numbers on your slip instead of one? Put the right eye first and the left second below.
What do these letters mean?
- SPH
- Your main power. A minus number means short-sighted, a plus number means long-sighted.
- CYL
- Astigmatism correction. Many prescriptions leave it blank, and that is fine.
- AXIS
- The angle the cylinder sits at, between 0 and 180. Only used when there is a CYL value.
- ADD
- Extra power for reading. It appears if you need bifocals or progressives.
- PD
- The distance between your pupils in millimetres. It centres the lens in front of your eye.
OD is your right eye and OS is your left. If your slip uses different words, upload the photo and we will match it up.

Which thickness is right for my prescription?
The stronger your power, the thinner the lens needs to be to avoid thick edges. We suggest one for you on the lens step, and you can change it.
What is different about a branded lens?
Branded labs polish to tighter tolerances and their coatings last longer. House lenses use the same materials at a lower price.
How does anti-glare help at night?
It stops light bouncing off the lens surface, so headlights and streetlights produce less halo and glare.
Can I change my lenses after ordering?
Yes, until the order goes to the lab. Call or email us and we will update it.
